Yesterday I discovered a wonderful blog by Sonya, who is creating the most adorable little dogs. She has a 60 day project going featuring doggies like this one

Block #7 of Let's Twist Again BOM quilt project

Love this block.

I discovered a way to "hand applique" using the sewing machine.

A stitch similar to a blind hem stitch is used, making the width very, very tiny, so the 'bite' into the appliqued piece is small, and using polyester monofilament thread, not nylon

Here it is at long last.
the original was way too large,

BOM from Material Obsession.

I have been working madly on a couple of blocks from  Material Obsessions BOM ( block of the month) These are from Let's Twist Again. The blocks are huge, about 50cm square, a total of nine, I am currently working on #6, a Feathered Star of many small pieces and very complicated. I have printed out a pattern of a Feathered Star from EQ6, and am trying to nut out how to foundation piece it. In the long run it will be a lot easier than machine piecing teeny fiddly bits...I hope!

Needlepoint

I have been working on a tapestry I started too many years ago to remember exactly when.

Here is a photo of where I left off.....I had not stitched any of the background which was supposed to be a cream colour. I thought the raspberry much more exciting to use.
Love it!

Work in progress.

My attempts at freeform machine embroidery.....room for a lot of improvement!

At last...finished the HUG cushion. Now to make it into a cushion. Stay tuned!!

Back again............

Almost 6 months since the last post.

Life got hard.

Quit cancer meds in April for 3 months, saw the oncologist Friday and she would prefer me to try a new medication. the side effects are dire and I do not want to take them at all.
At the moment my chances of not getting a recurrence of BC are at 16%. the question I keep asking myself is, is it worth trying to cope with revolting side effects and the possibility of heart problems, high cholesterol, liver and kidney damage for the sake of 16% chance of not getting cancer again?

Quality, not quantity.

I was asked by Dr C how I would feel if I chose not to take the meds and ended up with BC again,  would I beat myself up and wish I had taken the meds.

I don't know what to do.

All of the side effects from Arimidex have almost gone. Still a little stiffness in my hands when waking in the morning, but that is easing with each passing day.
Anxiety is lowering too, and my emotions are not swinging back and forth as they used to.

Dizziness is still an issue, the past week has been really tough. Trying to sew at the machine is almost impossible, dizziness and mild nausea. Not too sure what all that is about. Could be a virus. Plenty going around.

Today is another glorious day.
Sun shining.
Cool, but no wind.
Perfect.

Wish we were away in the van. Perfect Dongara day!

Downloaded a CD last night. You are Holy by Joshua Aaron. Good.

Wilbur is driving us up the wall. Since picking him up from Chris' he has become a right pain. Making sooky noises, wanting to come inside, then out, goodness knows how he is when we go out.

Have not seen the kids for a while. Hopefully Liam will call in next week.
Missing Amelie.
