Maisie Broadhead

Just found an amazing artist, Maisie Broadhead. She has done a very quirky take on old master paintings. Love them! Not sure how to add a link to her website, so you will have to Google if interested.

Hopefully this will work !!

Coptic Binding

The past few days I have been sewing up a couple of books, using pages I put together from junk
papers that I had sewn together months ago.

I sewed one book in the usual method I use, using tapes
on the spine then covering the spine with bookcloth. the other I decided to be adventurous and sew a
Coptic Stitch.

Two days later and a lot of un-doing here is the result.

The cover is made of book board onto which I pasted papers, a postcard, painted, distressed and matte varnished.

I am happy with the end results, though a bit a practice is needed to perfect the stitches!

Yesterday I discovered a wonderful blog by Sonya, who is creating the most adorable little dogs. She has a 60 day project going featuring doggies like this one

Yesterday I worked on a cover for a new Journal. Here it is so far.

I am using the stripe for the spine.

Block #7 of Let's Twist Again BOM quilt project

Love this block.

I discovered a way to "hand applique" using the sewing machine.

A stitch similar to a blind hem stitch is used, making the width very, very tiny, so the 'bite' into the appliqued piece is small, and using polyester monofilament thread, not nylon

BOM Block 6....Finished!!

Here it is at long last.
the original was way too large,
so I unpicked it and made it an 18.5" square.
